I was named Kelli after my dad, Keith. Steve calls me pooky, which is ironic because all growing up my mother called me bear. Funny how nicknames stick. What is yours?

Leader: Help the participants get started by giving an example or 2.

Week 3 – SHARE It!

Objective: Seeking to know God's Names and Character
through a Word Search in the bible.
Key Verse: God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps
reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one
of us. Acts 17:27
NLT Study Bible: God is known in his creation, and he is close to every one of us. But he is not trapped in his creation - he is transcendent. God is the Creator, not the creation. This means that God is sovereign and in control, while at the same time he is close and personal. Let the Creator of the universe rule your life.

Names and nick names tell a little bit about who we are or how
others may see us.
God has many names. They tell us more about WHO He is
(Creator). Some are endearing and like a sweet expression of love
(Comforter or Father). As we get to know God through seeking His
names and attributes throughout the Word, it will bring us into a
sweeter, more intimate relationship with Him.

So, how do you get to know those sweeter things of God? To keep it
simple, I like to relate it to how I get to know a new friend.
Make a list of how you would get to know a new friend.
I ask them a million questions.
I go to dinner with them or the movies.

Week 2 - Day 5
Day 5 - Read this slowly! Make it your prayer and hearts
desire.
I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my
fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take
refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and
I am saved from my enemies. Ps 18:1-3
My study Bible says:
"God's protection of his people is limitless and can take many forms. David characterized God's care with five military symbols. God is like (1) a rock that can't be moved by any who would harm us, (2) a fortress or place of safety where the enemy can't follow, (3) a shield that comes between us and harm, (4) strength of salvation, a symbol of might and power, (5) a stronghold high above our enemies. Week 2 - Day 4
Day 4- Read Philippians 2:1-15
What does your attitude usually look like? Does it resemble the
attitude of Christ? Spend time meditating on the Nature of Jesus.
Ask the Father to change you more and more into the image of
His Son.
14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
My study Bible says:
"Many people - even Christians - live only to make a good impression on others or to please themselves. But selfishness brings discord. Paul therefore stressed spiritual unity, asking the Philippians to love one another and to be one in spirit. and purpose. When we work together , caring for the problems of others as if they were our problems, we demonstrate Christ's example of putting others first, and we experience unity. Don't be so concerned about making a good impression or meeting your own needs that you strain relationships in God's family.
People often excuse selfishness, pride, or evil by claiming their rights. They think "I can cheat on this test; after all I deserve to pass this class, " or "I can spend all this money on myself - I worked hard for it," or "I can get an abortion; I have a right to control my own body." But as believers, we should have a different attitude, one that enables us to lay aside our rights in order to serve others. If we say we follow Christ, we must also say we want to live as he lived. We should develop his attitude of humility as we serve, even when we are not likely to get recognized for our efforts. Are you selfishly clinging to your rights , or are you willing to serve?
Why are complaining and arguing so harmful? If all that people know about a church is that its members constantly argue, complain, and gossip, they get a false impression of Christ and the Good News. Belief in Christ should unite those who trust him. If your church is always complaining and arguing, it lacks the unifying power of Jesus Christ. Stop arguing with other Christians or complaining about people and conditions within the church and let the world see Christ.
Our life should be characterized by moral purity, patience, and peacefulness, so that we will "shine brightly" in a dark and depraved world. A transformed life is an effective witness to the power of God's Word. Is your life shining brightly, or is it clouded by complaining and arguing? Shine out for God!"
That is awesome advice!
I am not always patient, and there are times that I am just one big complainer. I used to be THE biggest Debbie Downer of all time; always negative, complaining, just and all around crouch. I can't believe anyone wanted to hang out with me! Now I try very hard to bite my tongue even when I don't want to, and try to have a positive happy attitude. People are much more willing to hang out with a sweet girl than a Debbie Downer.

Philippians 2
Have the Attitude of Christ
1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
3 Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.

Shine Brightly for Christ

Make an “Attributes of God” list in your SOAR
notebook or journal.
Read Exodus 33 & 34 and record His
attributes (i.e. loving, merciful, etc.). You might need to finish
this assignment tomorrow. If so, that’s just fine! Your focus
should be on enjoying God and His Word.

But I will not travel among you, for you are a stubborn and rebellious people. If I did, I would surely destroy you along the way."

7 It was Moses' practice to take the Tent of Meeting
8 Whenever Moses went out to the Tent of Meeting, all the people would get up and stand in the entrances of their own tents. They would all watch Moses until he disappeared inside. 9 As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10 When the people saw the cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, they would stand and bow down in front of their own tents. 11 Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.
Moses Sees the LORD's Glory
12 One day Moses said to the Lord , "You have been telling me, `Take these people up to the Promised Land.' But you haven't told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, `I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.' 13 If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people."
14 The Lord replied, "I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you."
15 Then Moses said, "If you don't personally go with us, don't make us leave this place. 16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don't go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth."
17 The Lord replied to Moses, "I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name."
18 Moses responded, "Then show me your glorious presence."

Exodus 34
A New Copy of the Covenant
1 Then the Lord told Moses, "Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones. I will write on them the same words that were on the tablets you smashed. 2 Be ready in the morning to climb up Mount Sinai and present yourself to me on the top of the mountain. 3 No one else may come with you. In fact, no one is to appear anywhere on the mountain. Do not even let the flocks or herds graze near the mountain."
4 So Moses chiseled out two tablets of stone like the first ones. Early in the morning he climbed Mount Sinai as the Lord had commanded him, and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands.
5 Then the Lord came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh.

The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.
I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.

10 The Lord replied, "Listen, I am making a covenant with you in the presence of all your people. I will perform miracles that have never been performed anywhere in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people around you will see the power of the Lord —the awesome power I will display for you. 11 But listen carefully to everything I command you today. Then I will go ahead of you and drive out the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.
12 "Be very careful never to make a treaty with the people who live in the land where you are going. If you do, you will follow their evil ways and be trapped. 13 Instead, you must break down their pagan altars, smash their sacred pillars, and cut down their Asherah poles. 14 You must worship no other gods, for the Lord , whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.
15 "You must not make a treaty of any kind with the people living in the land. They lust after their gods, offering sacrifices to them. They will invite you to join them in their sacrificial meals, and you will go with them. 16 Then you will accept their daughters, who sacrifice to other gods, as wives for your sons. And they will seduce your sons to commit adultery against me by worshiping other gods. 17 You must not make any gods of molten metal for yourselves.
18 "You must celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast, just as I commanded you. Celebrate this festival annually at the appointed time in early spring, in the month of Abib,
19 "The firstborn of every animal belongs to me, including the firstborn males from your herds of cattle and your flocks of sheep and goats. 20 A firstborn donkey may be bought back from the Lord by presenting a lamb or young goat in its place. But if you do not buy it back, you must break its neck. However, you must buy back every firstborn son.

21 "You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but on the seventh day you must stop working, even during the seasons of plowing and harvest.

Week 2 - Day 1
SEEK GOD WITH YOUR EYES AND MIND
Week 2 – WORD IT!
Objective: The Greatest Treasure Hunt is to Seek to Know
God through the Bible with our eyes and minds.
Begin each day turning your mind, heart and eyes to God.
Enter into your time in the Word with a hunger and thirst for
His Presence.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. John 16:13
Do not rush the lessons or feel the need to complete a “task”.
This is your time to spend with “Daddy”. Enjoy, delight and
savor the Word.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

Day 1 - Establish a regular quiet time (even if it’s 5 minutes).
Today, ask God to give you a hunger and thirst for Him!
Read Psalm 23 and take time to relish in your SHEPHERD!
A Psalm of David. (NLT)
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

"In describing the Lord as a shepherd, David wrote out of his own experience because eh had spent his early years caring for sheep (1 Samuel 16:10,11). Sheep are completely dependent on the shepherd for provision, guidance, and protection. The New Testament calls Jesus the good shepherd (John 10:11); the great Shepherd (Hebrews 13:20) ; and the head Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4). As the Lord is the good shepherd, so we are his sheep - not frightened, passive animals, but obedient followers, wise enough to follow one who will lead us in the right places and right ways. This psalm does not focus on the animal-like qualities of sheep but n the discipleship qualities of those who follow. When you recognize the good shepherd, follow him!
When we allow God, our shepherd, to guide us, we have contentment. When we chose to sin and go our own way, however, we cannot blame God for the environment we create for ourselves. Our shepherd knows the "green meadows" and "peaceful streams" that will restore us. We will reach these places only by following Him obediently. Rebelling against the shepherd's leading is actually rebelling against our own best interests. We must remember this the next time we are tempted to go our own way rather than the shepherd's way.
Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies - pain, suffering, disease, injury - but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word. Only one person can walk us through death's dark valley and bring us safely to the other side - the God of life, our shepherd. Because life is uncertain, we should follow this shepherd who offers us eternal comfort.
In ancient Near Eastern culture, at a banquet it was customary to anoint a person with fragrant oil as lotion. Hosts were also expected to protect their guests at all costs. God offers the protection of a host even when enemies surround us. In the final scene of this psalm, we see that believers will dwell with God. God, the perfect shepherd and host, promises to guide and protect us throughout our life and to bring us int his house forever."

In ancient Near Eastern culture, at a banquet it was customary to anoint a person with fragrant oil as lotion. Hosts were also expected to protect their guests at all costs. God offers the protection of a host even when enemies surround us. In the final scene of this psalm, we see that believers will dwell with God. God, the perfect shepherd and host, promises to guide and protect us throughout our life and to bring us int his house forever."
